The magic of my first DD!
My first DD on this gallery! It has taken four years to reach these upper spheres of deviantArt. Yes, sometimes you have to be patient. Just keep working at it. Going on and on. One day the appreciation always comes.
But when it is there, it is a wonderful surprise. It really makes this day very special. To say the truth. Being rather intermittently on devArt at the moment, I first had not even noticed it. Then I found a comment on my frontpage by Katherine (
), looked round, found nothing at first and was deeply bewildered. 
Fortunately Katherine was so kind to answer my note within hours. And now I know. It is the following shot which has been chosen, suggested by Bart
and featured by John 
Ever so many thanks to them both.
This DD has indeed been a real pusher! The picture immediately has risen to be the most-faved shot of this gallery with 1458 favs up to this morning. With 6809 views it is not yet the most-viewed shot of this gallery, but who knows … In any case I am most grateful for each fave, for each individual comment, and for all the new watchers too, about 70 of them. I suppose you will understand that I can no longer thank you individually. So let me shake hands with you here.
Let me end this journal by my mission statement on my sort of natural nature photography: Extraordinary pictures are only taken at extraordinary moments. But when you have found the good spot at the right time, the shot should be near-perfect when coming out of the camera. Perhaps a little bit of cropping, perhaps just a little bit of more darkness or brightness, just a little bit of extra contrast. That should be all the editing, no more! Yes, dear me, beware of all the manipulations! They are such temptations these days, I know. But nature really does not need to be made more beautiful! Present its own beauty. And try to do so where you live, not thousands of miles away. Because beauty is often very, very near! Perhaps already in the park just round the corner, on a field or in a forest just out of town, or in the sky just above your head. But you have to look for it and see it! So open your eyes and find it! And then share it with us all.
