Sheep on the dike near the village of Wierum in the north of Friesland. With the sun lowering, the shadows were long and the colours more intense.

You are right about the intensity of the colours. The long shadows are almost a reflection of the horizontal lines on the ocean surface. I think that although the picture speaks of peacefulness, the sheep are 'Don't mess with me' sheep.

Actually the sheep were more curious and also somewhat shy than defensive, I would say.
